Indie Central

I fully admit to being a visual media junkie.  Books, of course, but also TV and Movies.  Lots and lots of TV and movies.  And you know what happens when you watch lots and lots of anything?  Eventually you feel like you’ve watched EVERYTHING.  That’s why I love the Indie Movie so very much.

These little movies show up on Netflix streaming, on cable, maybe On Demand.  They’re the ones that never get a lot of publicity, don’t have a big budget, and are usually labors of love for someone.  Oftentimes they completely suck.  But…over the years something remarkable has happened.  More and more well-known actors, directors and producers are throwing their hats into the Indie ring.

Why?  Maybe it’s because the technology is becoming less expensive and within reach of mere mortals.  Maybe because people want to do something different, something they believe in.  Maybe the A-listers need a way to use their money.  I don’t know and I don’t care, because it all means that there are more movies for me.

This is serious business, people.

And for you.  Because I’m willing to weed through the dreck (and most of it is still dreck) and pick out the gems – even semi-precious gems are worth a watch – so that you don’t have to.  On this page you will find little movies that are worth your time – and even your money (sometimes).  You may also find some absolute crap that I just had fun writing about.  Enjoy!
