I vow to keep track of the movies I watch in 2026. I started doing these little mini-reviews for 2025 movies and it’s turned into a great way to remind myself to search for moves as they arrive on streaming. I’ve seen so many good movies that I might have missed otherwise! So here we go for 2026. I’ll include movies I love, those I hate, and the many that fall somewhere in the middle.

Ladies First

I get where they were going here – throwing a classic misogynist into a world controlled by women. But the underlying notion that, given the chance to be in charge, women would treat men as badly as this character treated women, is fundamentally flawed. The comedy also gets lost in vulgarity that serves little purpose.

Office Romance

2.5 Stars
I love Brett Goldstein and for him I gave Office Romance a try. And he was great as an uptight British lawyer! But there wasn’t enough chemistry between his character and Jennifer Lopez’s to make this odd couple romance fly.

Project Hail Mary

Actually went to a movie theater for Project Hail Mary! I’m glad I did because it’s visually fabulous. But there’s enough other great stuff here that it will be very fun even on a smaller screen once it’s streaming. I’m also interested now in reading the book by Andy Weir.

Remarkably Bright Creatures

The Rip
Main Cast: Matt Damon, Ben Affleck

A team of narcotics cops find their trust tested by a huge drug house cash stash. The Rip is a loud, violent action thriller based on a true story. It isn’t terribly great from a story perspective but is full of good actors who give strong performances, lifting it above similar films.

Send Help

Honestly, Send Help is the antidote to all that annoyed me about Apex. Its tongue-in-cheek horror approach to surviving both a plane crash and a horrible boss made me happy on so many levels. McAdams and O’Brien are both fantastic and sell this twisted tale of douchebag misogyny and unhinged revenge with an over-the-top glee that’s fun to watch. Both my husband and I really enjoyed it.

The Sheep Detectives

I liked The Sheep Detectives so much more than I anticipated! It’s very cute, with a good, classic whodunit, some genuinely touching moments, and a fantastic voice cast. The CGI sheep are not realistic at all, and they’re all the cuter for it. Well worth a watch even if you think it’s not your kind of movie.

Sue reads a lot, writes a lot, edits a lot, and loves a good craft. She was deemed “too picky” to proofread her children’s school papers and wears this as a badge of honor. She is also proud of her aggressively average knitting skills. TV and indie movies are her jam.
