New on Netflix – August 24th and August 31st

You want the scoop?  I got the scoop.

Another two weeks, another batch of new movies to watch on DVD!  Though usually something of a technophobe, I have to say….I LOVE MY BIG HDTV!  It isn’t huge by industry standards, but I remember well the days of 13 inch CRT TVs with coat hanger rabbit ears and relish The Future.   I can indulge my movie addiction in high def from the comfort of my own couch.  It’s love, people!  Let’s see what we have coming to a living room near you, shall we?

August 24th

City Island (comedy, Andy Garcia, Julianna Margulies, Emily Mortimer) – Netflix and purchase release, DVD and Blu-ray

The Back-Up Plan (romantic comedy, Jennifer Lopez, Alex O’Loughlin) – Netflix and purchase release, DVD and Blu-Ray

The Square (crime thriller, David Roberts, Claire van der Boom) – Netflix and purchase release, DVD and Blu-ray

$5 a Day (comedy, Christopher Walken, Alessandro Nivola, Amanda Peet, Sharon Stone) – Netflix and purchase release, DVD and Blu-Ray

Dorian Gray (drama, Ben Chaplin, Colin Firth, Ben Barnes) – Netflix and purchase release, DVD and Blu-Ray

Abandoned (psychological thriller, Brittany Murphy, Dean Cain, Mimi Rogers) – Netflix and purchase release, DVD and Blu-Ray

Batman: Under the Red Hood (animated action, Jensen Ackles, Neil Patrick Harris, Bruce Greewood, Jason Isaacs) – Netflix release, DVD and Blu-Ray (delayed from purchase release of July 27th)

Finding Lenny (sports comedy, Barry Hilton) – Purchase release, DVD, delayed Netflix release (no date scheduled)

August 31st

Diary of a Wimpy Kid (comedy, Steve Zahn, Chloe Moretz) – Netflix release, DVD and Blu-Ray (delayed from purchase release of August 3rd)

Harry Brown (crime thriller, Michael Caine, Emily Mortimer) – Netflix and purchase release, DVD and Blu-Ray

Made for Each Other (comedy, Bijou Phillips, Christopher Masterson, Lauren German) – Netflix and purchase release, DVD

Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married Too? (drama, Tasha Smith, Michael Jai White, Jill Scott, Richard T. Jones) – Netflix and purchase release, DVD and Blu-Ray

Marmaduke (family comedy, Owen Wilson, Emma Stone) – Purchase release, DVD and Blu-Ray, delayed Netflix release (no date scheduled)

Well, that’s slim pickings for August 31st, but I am thankful that if one movie has to be delayed, it’s Marmaduke.  I suppose I could go outside or something.  Nah.  I still have all of Dexter – Season 4 to watch!  Forget popcorn, I should have a blood orange…
