New on Netflix – September 21st and September 28th

I will view, will you view, too?

Well, my friends, fall is upon us here in my part of the world.  Oh, we’ll still have some summery days, but there’s a chill in the air at night that reminds me of the howling winds and blizzards that are on their way.  I like to try and forget about that.  My drug of choice?  Movies, of course!  Now’s the perfect time to bring out the blankets and snuggle in on the couch for Netflix marathons.  So let’s see what’s new!

September 21st

Ondine (sci-fi/fantasy, Colin Farrell, Alicja Bachleda) – Netflix and purchase release, DVD and Blu-Ray

Untitled (romantic comedy, Adam Goldberg, Marley Shelton) – Netflix and purchase release, DVD and Blu-Ray

30 Rock – Season 4 (TV comedy, Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin) – Netflix and purchase release, DVD and Blu-Ray (as usual, I only include TV I like…I’m very excited about this one!)

Modern Family – Season 1 (TV comedy, Julie Bowen, Sofia Vergara) – Netflix and purchase release, DVD and Blu-Ray Breaking with the tradition I set moments ago – this is a show I’ve never watched.  But it won a bunch of Emmy awards, so I’m going to start watching it now!

The Secret in Their Eyes (foreign drama, Ricardo Darin, Soledad Villamil) – Netflix and purchase release, DVD and Blu-Ray

Stomp the Yard: Homecoming (drama, Collins Pennie, Stephan Boss) – Netflix and purchase release, DVD and Blu-ray

Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue (children’s animated, Mae Whitman, Michael Sheen) – Netflix and purchase release, DVD and Blu-Ray

The Experiment (psychological thriller, Forest Whitaker, Adrien Brody) – Netflix and purchase release, DVD and Blu-Ray

The Locksmith – Homewrecker (comedy, Anslem Richardson, Ana Reeder) – Purchase release, Netflix release delayed

Robin Hood (action adventure, Russell Crowe, Cate Blanchette) – Purchase release, Netflix release delayed until October

September 28th

Frozen (suspense, Emma Bell, Shawn Ashmore) – Netflix and purchase release, DVD and Blu-Ray

Iron Man 2 (action, Robert Downey Jr., Mickey Roarke, Gwenyth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Sam Rockwell) – Netflix and purchase release, DVD and Blu-Ray.  You can see my review of this fine film here!

Marmaduke (family comedy, Owen Wilson, Emma Stone) – Netflix release, DVD and Blu-Ray, delayed from original purchase release date of  August 31st

Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky (foreign romance, Anna Mouglalis, Mads Mikkelson) – Netflix and purchase release, DVD and Blu-Ray

The Killer Inside Me (crime drama, Casey Affleck, Kate Hudson, Jessica Alba) – Netflix and purchase release, DVD and Blu-ray

Legendary (sports drama, John Cena, Patricia Clarkson, Devon Graye) – Netflix release, DVD – looks like Netflix scooped Amazon on this one – it isn’t available there!

Mercy (drama, Wendy Glenn, Scott Caan, James Caan) – Netflix and purchase release, DVD

Babies (documentary) Netflix and purchase release, DVD and Blu-Ray

Suck (cult horror, Rob Stefaniuk, Dimitri Coates, Jessica Pare, Malcolm McDowell, Henry Rollins, Iggy Pop, Alice Cooper) – Netflix and purchase release, DVD and Blu-Ray

Get Him to the Greek (comedy, Jonah Hill, Russell Brand) – Purchase release, DVD and Blu-Ray, Netflix release delayed until October

Now is it just my imagination or are there fewer delayed releases than there were earlier this summer?  Hmm.  Well, I hope so.  A good selection this time – happy watching!

I think they mentioned on WWE that Legendary was only going to be at Walmarts? So Netflix and Walmart?

Really? I'm sort of liking all these permutations - they're a hassle but interesting. I wonder how that deal might affect future releases?

Not sure why they'd want to "limit" the DVD release because that's how they're going to make all of their money, but Wal-Mart must've given them a sweet deal or something. I don't get a lot of this stuff, but I guess it has to be good for business right? Read Less

But I'm surprised that they would want to limit DVD sales. I agree, Walmart must have offered them a whoooooooole lot of cash for the rights. But then I'm confused - why would they release it for rental right away? I mean, we know that restricting rentals doesn't increase DVD sales, but I don't expect that sort of rational thinking. From Walmart. Read Less
