Comedian, actor, and all-around wit Red Buttons died today at the age of 87. The longtime performer got his start doing a comedy act in the Catskills, and went on to movies, plays and TV. Buttons, whose small-screen career started in 1951 on Suspense and included numerous guest appearances as well as a three-year stint hosting his own show, kept working almost until the very end; the IMDB listing credits him with a cameo last year on ER. Wherever he is now, there’ll hopefully be a stage — and a dinner.
RIP, Red Buttons
