Berry: I tried to take my own life

Actress Halle Berry, in this Sunday’s Parade magazine, says that she once tried to commit suicide, Reuters reported today.

Her suicide attempt followed her 1997 split from her first husband, baseball star David Justice. She and Justice had been married for nearly five years.

Berry tells the magazine that she also considered suicide after breaking up with her second husband, singer Eric Benet. “If I hadn’t gone through the first breakup and made that promise to myself, this would have leveled me,” she says. “I would have walked into moving traffic.”

Berry now says thanks to therapy and counseling, she is now in control of her life, and is considering motherhood.
