Good Screeners Gone Bad

I Feel Guilty

I love movies.  I love free stuff.  So it goes without saying that I love the publicists who send me movie screeners.  I’ve seen some very good movies that had never crossed my radar through this process – it’s a truly awesome thing.

So it is that I end up feeling a little bad when I get a free screener and really, really hate the movie.  You know, looking a gift horse in the mouth and all that.  But I get screeners to review them and when I review, I cut to the chase and call ’em as I see ’em, whether I paid full price at the theater or saw the movie free.

So with all due gratitude to the fine folks who sent me the screener for Bad Blood: The Hatfields and McCoys, I’m afraid that the review may not be what you hoped for.  I did, however, greatly enjoy writing it, so that’s something.  It also helps soothe the pain from actually watching the movie.  I take my solace where I can find it.  I hope the next screener I get will be one I can gush love all over.  I love it when that happens.

In the meantime, I’ll be buying shoes as therapy to get over this traumatic day.  Also because I feel like shopping for shoes.  So please, enjoy the review.  Unless you sent me the movie, in which case I apologize and hope you don’t delete me from your mailing list.
