Clueless

Rating:

This high school comedy has a clue

Main Cast: Alicia Silverstone, Stacey Dash, Brittany Murphy, Paul Rudd
Director: Amy Heckerling

Plot Summary: The lives and times of Beverly Hills high school girls is displayed for all to see in this amusing comedy.

A perfectly charming look at the Beverly Hills high school social scene through the life of Cher (Silverstone), a beautiful blond sophomore who, along with friend Dionne (Dash), are the most popular girls in school and thus set the standards all must meet to be that all-encompassing “cool” (or whatever term happens to be in vogue right now).

A clueless transfer student named Tai (Murphy) is quickly taken under the wings of the winsome pair and shown the ways of the For- sorry, shown the ways of Beverly Hills. This includes what to wear, what to eat, where to go, and most importantly, who to be seen with. This is a very clever movie that is highly humorous and a sly knockabout of the entire culture.

Based loosely (very) on Jane Austen’s Emma, the only ones clueless are, of course, Cher and Dionne. While teaching Tai they learn a few things themselves, and maybe, perhaps, wisdom doth creep in. As if!

Okay, so it is light entertainment. But good stuff, with a sprightly, engaging plot, cute and unique characters, solid and inspired acting, and just a sense of fun. The beautiful locations don’t hurt, either. This is a fun movie and not to be missed.
