"Truthiness" takes Word of the Year vote

One of Stephen Colbert’s favored phrases took top place in this year’s online survey by Merriam-Webster. Truthiness — “truth that comes from the gut, not books” — beat other words by a 5-to-1 margin. In the past Colbert has made fun of M-W, but maybe this honor will make him change his tune, especially if “a wag to the finger” wins next year vote.
