Netflix LogoYes, once again, a page for the completists.  We have the latest Netflix release dates over at Everything Netflix, but I’ll keep a running list of the entire year here.  I’m not going to tab this one for the streaming dates, but you can get those back at Everything Netflix.  This is just one big, giant, heaping helping of 2017 Netflix.

Line of Duty – Season 3 (TV drama, Martin Compston, Vicky McClure) – British crime drama in an Internal Affairs investigation. Seasons 4-6 already scheduled. This one is not a streamer, DVD Only

Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency – Season 1 (TV comedy, Samuel Barnett, Elijah Wood) – This series about a quirky detective with unusual methods looks good – I’ll give it a shot. DVD Only (at least for now) – and it does have a second season but that’s all.

The Doctor Blake Mysteries (TV drama, Craig McLachlan, Nadine Garner) – Australian period series set after WWII about a a doctor investigating murders. This one is a streamer, I’ll let you know when. Season 4 comes later in January, and there is a season 5. The rights to the series have been bought, so perhaps there will be more. DVD Only for now

Dunkirk (action, Fionn Whitehead, Tom Glynn-Carney) – Military evacuation during WWII, historical drama. DVD Only

Jeepers Creepers 3 (horror, Gina Phillips, Jonathan Breck) – Obviously third in the franchise, a woman takes on the Creeper. DVD Only

Flatliners (horror, Ellen Page, Diego Luna) – Not really sure this is a reboot or a remake, it sounds more like a re-imagining of the original from the 1990s. That made no sense, but there you go. DVD Only

Brawl in Cell Block 99 (thriller, Vince Vaughn, Jennifer Carpenter) – Former boxer end up in prison, where being a fighter is not a bad asset. Good cast here. DVD Only

Killing Gunther (comedy, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Taran Killam) – It’s hard to assassinate an assassin. Or so I hear. DVD Only

Mayhem (thriller, Steven Yeun, Samara Weaving) – A virus that makes people lose their inhibitions. That can’t be good. Stars Glen from Walking Dead – who knows a bit about fighting for his brains. DVD Only

The Recall (sci-fi, Wesley Snipes, R.J. Mitte) – Alien attack finds a small group at an isolated summer house. R.J. Mitte is Walter White Junior from Breaking Bad. DVD Only

Revolt (sci-fi, Lee Pace, Bérénice Marlohe) – Another alien invasion! This one finds our hero waking in a Kenyan jail, needing to escape. DVD Only

Kingsman: The Golden Circle (action, Colin Firth, Julianne Moore) – A fantastic cast for this sequel, including Channing Tatum, Halle Berry, and Jeff Bridges. I really enjoyed the first one – this is going to the top of my queue! DVD Only

The Durrells in Corfu – Season 2 (TV dramedy, Keeley Hawes, Josh O’Connor) – Based on a trilogy of novels about a family that moves from England to Greece in the 1930s. This is not a streamer, so DVD Only. There is a third season coming.

mother! (thriller, Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem) – Horror isn’t usually my thing, but look at this great cast! I will definitely see this story of unwanted house-guests. DVD Only

Stronger (drama, Jake Gyllenhaal, Tatiana Maslany) – Based on a true story about a man who lost his legs in the Boston Marathon bombing. DVD Only

Birth of the Dragon (drama, Philip Ng, Xia Yu) – A biographical look at young Bruce Lee in 1960s San Francisco. DVD Only

Score: A Film Music Documentary (documentary, Hans Zimmer, Danny Elfman) – The mastercraft of scoring a film explored. DVD Only

Detroit (drama, John Boyega, Will Poulter) – Kathryn Bigelow directed this period piece set in 1967 among rioting in Detroit. DVD Only

Leatherface (horror, Stephen Dorff, Lili Taylor) – Texas Chainsaw Massacre origin story. See Dennis’s review here. DVD Only

Blood Money (thriller, Ellar Coltrane, Willa Fitzgerald) – Found money is just never good money. Ever. DVD Only

El Senor de los Cielos – Season 4 (foreign TV drama, Rafael Amaya, Ximena Herrera) – Spanish language series about the man who followed Pablo Escobar in Mexican drug trafficking. Instant Streaming Only, downloadable

Reggie Yates: Outside Man – Season 2 (documentary) – English actor Reggie Yates heads abroad to explore various human rights issues. This season consists of episodes originally broadcast in 2015. No idea if there will be more. Instant Streaming Only, downloadable

Wormwood (documentary) – This 6 part docu-series appears to use conventional documentary style with dramatic recreation to tell the story of a man whose suicide is now believed to be the result of an illegal government experiment. Instant Streaming Only, downloadable

Christmas Inheritance (holiday, Eliza Taylor, Jake Lacy) – Wow. Netflix jumps into Hallmark territory with this one. It looks awful. I’ll totally watch it. Instant Streaming Only, downloadable

Discovering Bigfoot (documentary, Jeffrey Meldrum, Todd Standing) – Um, okay. So this is supposedly going to offer proof that Bigfoot exists as we travel with scientists into Sasquatch country. Wherever that might be. I may have to watch this. Instant Streaming Only, downloadable

Pottersville (comedy, Michael Shannon, Judy Greer) – Just a few days after its DVD release, this one becomes Available on Instant Streaming and downloadable. Which is good, because I’m curious about this It’s a Wonderful Life setting with…Bigfoot?

The Trip to Spain (comedy, Steve Coogan, Rob Brydon) – I think this is the third in a series of culinary mockumentaries starring these two. Coogan is funny, these could be good. DVD Only

Atomic Blonde (action, Charlize Theron, James McAvoy) – Charlize Theron kicks ass as a British spy. Cool. DVD Only

All Saints (drama, John Corbett, Cara Buono) – Pastor works with refugees to create working farm in order to keep the church afloat. DVD Only

Viceroy’s House (drama, Hugh Bonneville, Gillian Anderson) – Period drama about British diplomats in India during the country’s transition to independence. DVD Only

Pottersville (comedy, Michael Shannon, Judy Greer) – Terrific cast for this comedy about a man who is mistaken for Bigfoot. I will absolutely see this. DVD Only

Wolf Warrior II (foreign action, Jacky Wu, Frank Grillo) – Mandarin language story about a former army sniper who finds more sniping in Africa. DVD Only

Manolo: The Boy Who Made Shoes for Lizards (documentary, Manolo Blahnik, Anna Wintour) – Thinking this is pretty self-explanatory. Except for the lizards part. DVD Only

The Unknown Girl (foreign drama, Adèle Haenel, Jérémie Renier) – French language story of a doctor haunted (not literally) about the death of a patient she refused to see. DVD Only

Fargo – Season 3 (TV drama, Ewan McGregor, Carrie Coon) – Another great season of this FX show that manages to capture the spirit of the original Coen brothers film every time. There is no season four currently in the works, but the filmmakers have not ruled it out at a later date. DVD Only

Cars 3 (family animation, Owen Wilson, Cristela Alonzo) – Well, I didn’t see installments one or two, so chances are good that I’ll be passing on three. DVD Only

A Gray State (documentary) – A documentary looking into the deaths of a documentary film maker and his family. DVD Only

The Women’s Balcony (foreign comedy, Evelin Hagoel, Igal Naor) – Hebrew language story about a collapsing balcony leading to trouble in an Orthodox Jewish neighborhood. DVD Only

Ingrid Goes West (dramedy, Aubrey Plaza, Elizabeth Olsen) – Oh, I do love Aubrey Plaza. In this dark comedy her character really, really, really wants to be friends with an Instagram celebrity. DVD Only

California Typewriter (documentary, Tom Hanks, John Mayer) – Did you know there were typewriter super-fans? Me either! But this documentary takes a look at them. DVD Only

Logan Lucky (comedy, Channing Tatum, Adam Driver) – Car racing heist comedy. DVD Only

Trumping Democracy (documentary) – Self explanatory. DVD Only

American Assassin (action, Dylan O’Brien, Michael Keaton) – So the movie based on Vince Flynn’s Mitch Rapp Character finally happened! And this is it. DVD Only

On Wings of Eagles (drama, Michael Parker, Joseph Fiennes) – Based on the true story of Scotsman Eric Liddell (remember him from Chariots of Fire?) and what he did after his famous run. DVD Only

Conor McGregor: Notorious (documentary, Conor McGregor) – Documenting a sports icon? Okay, I never heard of him, but apparently his big in the world of fighting/boxing/something. DVD Only

The Osiris Child (sci-fi, Kellan Lutz, Daniel MacPherson) – Dystopian future + convict + kid + global disaster = OH MY DVD Only

Better Watch Out (horror, Olivia DeJonge, Levi Miller) – Adolescent’s sexy babysitter is no consolation when the bad guys show up. DVD Only

Singularity (sci-fi, John Cusack, Julian Schaffner) – I am a total sucker for John Cusack, so I will see him in this tale of the robot apocalypse. DVD Only

The Crucifixion (horror, Sophie Cookson, Corneliu Ulici) – Did that exorcism REALLY get rid of that demon? I think we all know the answer. DVD Only

Crash Pad (comedy, Domhnall Gleeson, Thomas Haden Church) – Infidelity revenge goes awry, as it usually does. DVD Only

Princess Cyd (drama, Rebecca Spence, Jessie Pinnick) – Coming of age while spending the summer visiting an aunt in Chicago. DVD Only

The Elf (horror, Natassia Halabi, Gabriel Miller) – The elf on that shelf is no holiday decoration. AGGGGHHH! DVD Only

Border Cross (action, Lorenzo Lamas, Danny Trejo) – This seems like an odd pair. The story is about a child taken for human trafficking. DVD Only

The Better Half (comedy, Kathleen Rose Perkins, Chris Parnell) – Trying to make amends in the afterlife. DVD only

Dementia 13 (horror, Ana Isabelle, Christian Ryan) – This ghost story is actually a remake (reboot?) of a 50 year old Coppola movie. DVD Only

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life – Season 1 (TV drama, Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel) – Originally set as a 4 part mini-series, this Gilmore Girls revival may see a second season. It’s been streaming for a long time, but now is available to DVD subscribers as well.

Kidnap (thriller, Halle Berry, Sage Correa) – I do like Halle Berry in these roles – this time she’s a mom trying to rescue her kidnapped child. DVD Only

Rumble: The Indians Who Rocked the World (rockumentary, Buffy Sainte Marie, Robbie Robertson) – Documentary about Native American musicians. DVD Only

Tulip Fever (drama, Dane DeHaan, Alicia Vikander) – 17th century tulip themed romantic period piece set in Amsterdam. DVD Only

Acts of Vengeance (action, Antonio Banderas, Karl Urban) – Lawyer wants vengeance for the murder of his family. DVD Only

Lost in Paris (foreign comedy, Fiona Gordon, Dominique Abel) – French language story of a Canadian woman in Paris looking for her aunt who has disappeared. DVD Only

Past Life (foreign drama, Nelly Tagar, Joy Rieger) – This 1970s period piece is directed by an Israeli director, but I think the movie is in English (I could be wrong). Its the story of two sisters – and rivals – and their Holocaust survivor parents coping with family secrets. DVD Only

Leap (family animation, Elle Fanning, Nat Wolff) – Story of an aspiring ballerina in late 1800s Paris. Looks like stop motion animation. DVD Only

The Hitman’s Bodyguard (action comedy, Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson) – Love these actors, so I’m more than happy to see this story of an unlikely duo of bodyguard and hitman. DVD Only

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (sci-fi, Dane DeHaan, Cara Delevingne) – Based on a French comics series, this story of time travelers was directed by Luc Besson. But I believe the movie is in English. DVD Only

Jungle (action, Daniel Radcliffe, Thomas Kretschmann) – Based on a true story, a group tries to survive in the Amazon. I like that Daniel Radcliffe takes chances with indie movies, so I’ll see this one. DVD Only

American Gods – Season 1 (TV drama, Ricky Whittle, Ian McShane) – I read the Neil Gaiman book on which this is based years ago and loved it. I’ve been eagerly awaiting the series!
