More wheeling and dealing

— Renee Zellweger, Ed Harris, and Viggo Mortensen will star in Apaloosa, a western drama adapted by Harris and Robert Knott from a novel by Robert B. Parker. Harris and Mortensen will play two friends trying to protect a town from a rancher; Zellweger plays a widow who’s new to town. Harris is also producing (with Knott) and directing; shooting is scheduled to start October 1.

— Tim Allen will star in The Six Wives of Henry Lefay, an indie comedy also starring Elisha Cuthbert, Paz Vega, Andie MacDowell, Kelli Garner and S. Epatha Merkerson. Allen’s role is that of a salesman presumed dead after a skydiving expedition; Cuthbert plays his daughter, who must make funeral arrangements while contening with the saleman’s current wife — and five ex-wifes.

— Nicole Kidman is attached as star and producer to a remake of the Colombian horror film, Al final del espectro. The original film’s director, Juan Felipe Orozco, will also helm the remake; Fernley Phillips will do the screenplay.

— J.J. Abrams’ production company, Bad Robot, will produce an untitled supernatural thriller to be written and directed by Josh Marston. The film is just one of several projects Bad Robot has set up with Paramount Pictures, currently in the first year of a five-year agreement with Abrams.
