Monk Recap: Mr. Monk Gets Cabin Fever

This was fun to watch, but not as entertaining as other Monk mysteries. Unlike most of the episodes, the murderer and method are revealed early on, so we don’t get the pleasure of watching Monk figure things out light-years ahead of everyone else. (I may be squeamish, but in general I don’t like seeing murders onscreen anyway; it’s usually enough if the show hints at what’s going to happen, and lets viewers imagine the rest.) The subplot with Disher and the witness protection program probably didn’t leave time for Monk’s usual detection, but I still missed it.

I did enjoy seeing the interactions between Monk, Stottlemeyer and Natalie, particularly the latter as they cope with living with Monk. The scene where Monk and Disher both say, “I know exactly what happened!” and simultaneously babble their explanations was also very funny. All in all, not a bad warmup for next week’s season premiere.
